Recover money from a Chinese supplier — with lawyers in China

Paid a deposit and received nothing? Goods defective, late or never shipped? Our team in Beijing takes it up with the supplier directly to press for a refund, a replacement or a repair. If that doesn't settle it, we can take formal legal action in China.

When we can help

We act for foreign buyers when a Chinese supplier:

  • Took a deposit or full payment and never shipped
  • Shipped defective, wrong or short goods and won't refund or replace them
  • Promised a refund and never paid it
  • Stopped replying once it had your money
  • Turned out to be a different company from the one on the invoice

This service is for businesses that bought from a supplier in China. It is not for personal online shopping orders. If a customer in China owes you money, that is a different kind of claim: email aaronlv@gaojinlaw.com.

How it works

Five steps. Nothing starts without your written go-ahead.

2 minutes

Tell us what happened

Free and confidential. No documents needed yet — just the facts and the outcome you want.

1 business day

A lawyer replies

Beijing time. We tell you whether we can help, what we would need and what we would do first.

Before any work

Written scope and quote

What we will do, over what period, and the full fee, including any outside costs. You decide whether to go ahead.

30 days

We act in China

We check the supplier and contact the company in Chinese, up to its management where needed. A written update every week, even when there is no news.

Day 30

Review and decide

We go through what has been achieved and you choose: close the case, extend it on agreed terms, or take formal legal action in China, quoted separately.

The 30 days is a service period, not a promise that the supplier will settle within it. Day 30 is the normal review point, not a waiting period: if a deadline is close or something needs doing sooner, we assess the next step straight away and agree it with you in writing before acting. Platform, bank and court deadlines keep running on their own dates.

Why Gaojin

Who is handling your case

A licensed Beijing law firm

We are lawyers admitted in the PRC — not a collection agency or a sourcing service. If talking doesn't settle it, the same firm can file claims, apply to freeze assets and enforce judgments in China; collection agents cannot.

20 years of legal experience in China

Aaron Lv (吕喆), Partner, has been licensed to practise in China since 2004. He practised at Grandall Law Firm and was Legal Counsel at CEMEX before joining Gaojin in 2018. The lawyer who assesses your case runs it.

The China side, in English

Within the scope we agree with you, we do the work in China, in Chinese, and report to you in English every week by email or WhatsApp. Where needed, we coordinate with your local counsel.

Check us before you send anything. The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice, the authority that licensed us, publishes our record: open Aaron Lv's entry for practising licence no. 11101200410425302, full-time practising status and Beijing Gaojin Law Firm as his firm. The page is in Chinese; here is how to read it, in English.

Questions

Before you send anything

Do I have to go to court?

No. We start with direct action: calls, messages and formal letters to the supplier in Chinese. You won't need to travel to China. Court or arbitration is one option we review with you, usually at day 30 or sooner if something is urgent, and only if you choose it.

My supplier is a small factory. Is it worth it?

It depends on the amount, the evidence and how the supplier responds. We tell you plainly before you pay anything, and if it isn't worth pursuing, we say so.

How long does it take?

The first service period is 30 days, with a written update every week, even when there is no news. At day 30 we review the position with you and agree what happens next; if something urgent comes up earlier, we don't wait for day 30. The 30 days is a working period, not a promise that you will be paid within it.

How much does it cost?

Submitting your case costs nothing. If we can help, you get a written scope and quote first, with any outside costs listed, and you decide whether to go ahead. If the case later needs court, arbitration or enforcement work, that is quoted separately.

What if the supplier ignores you?

Silence is common. We check the company's registration and status, and find the people who can actually decide, including management. If direct pressure gets nowhere, we tell you plainly whether formal action in China is worth it for the amount involved.

Does submitting pause any platform or shipping deadlines?

No. Dispute windows, response deadlines and storage charges keep running, and until you accept a written quote we are not acting for you. If you have a deadline in the next 14 days, say so in the form, with the date if you know it, and keep taking the steps the platform, your bank or your carrier asks for.
