What personal information this website collects, why, and the choices you have. Written to be read, not skimmed past.
This notice covers en.gaojinlaw.com, the English-language website of Beijing Gaojin Law Firm (北京高金律师事务所), 7 Jianguomennei Avenue, Dongcheng District, Beijing, China. It applies to visitors to this website; information you share once you engage us as a client is governed by the engagement letter and by lawyers' statutory duties of confidentiality, which are stricter than anything on this page.
Enquiries you send us. When you use one of our forms, email us, call, or message us on WhatsApp or WeChat, we receive what you choose to share — typically your name, company, contact details and a description of your matter. We use it to respond to you, to run a conflict-of-interest check before any engagement, and for no other purpose. Our website forms are handled by Netlify Forms, a service of our hosting provider, which stores each submission and emails it to our firm mailbox.
How you found us. A form you send us also carries how you reached the site: the kind of source (such as a search engine, an AI assistant or one of our ads), the page you landed on, and any campaign details or Google click identifier in the link you followed. We use this only to learn which channels bring enquiries. To match a later enquiry to an earlier visit, this site keeps its own short note on your device, and it follows your cookie choice: kept if you accept (clear this site's data to remove it), kept only until you close the tab if you have not chosen yet, and not kept at all if you decline.
Scheduling. If you book a call, scheduling runs on Calendly, a third-party service with its own privacy policy. We receive the details you enter when booking.
Analytics — only with your consent. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. Analytics cookies are not set unless you accept them in the cookie notice; until then the tool runs in a cookieless consent mode. We record events such as page views, clicks on contact links and the steps of our case form, never the names, contact details or case facts you type into it.
Advertising. We advertise on Google Search. When a form sent from one of our ads reaches us, we tell Google Ads that an enquiry came in, using a random reference number and no personal details, so that we can see which ads work. We do not set advertising cookies or use remarketing, and we do not sell or share personal information for marketing.
Hosting logs. The site is served by Netlify, whose infrastructure keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and delivery.
We are a law firm in Beijing, so an enquiry you send us is received and handled in China. The third-party services above (Netlify, Calendly, Google) process data on their own infrastructure under their own privacy terms. We do not pass your details to anyone else unless you ask us to, the law requires it, or it is necessary to act for you.
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and to maintain conflict-checking records. If an enquiry becomes an engagement, retention follows the engagement letter and the record-keeping rules that apply to law firms in China.
Subject to applicable law — including China's Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) and, where it applies to you, the GDPR — you may ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you may withdraw any consent you have given (for example, by clearing this site's cookies and site data to reset your cookie choice). This website is directed at businesses and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
